MTA's Pally Has Suffolk Ally

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone has written Governor Andrew Cuomo requesting the re-appointment of Mitchell Pally as the Suffolk County representative to the board of New York's Metropolitan Transit Authority.

Bellone said Pally would strive to help implement his Connect Long Island plan to connect transit-oriented development projects with bus rapid transit for the region.

"Mitch has been a staunch advocate for Suffolk County's transportation needs," said Bellone. "Mitch truly understands the future of transportation on Long Island and how it relates to economic development and supports the creation innovative ways to address the transportation needs of Long Islanders."

Pally has served on the MTA board since 2005 and has served as the Long Island chairman. He has also served as a member of the capital program oversight, finance, Metro North Rail Road and bridges and tunnels committee.

He also served in 2010 as chief executive of the Long Island Builders Institute, the largest home building trade association in New York State.
