Early, Texas, 2010 GOs Raised to A by S&P

Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said it raised its underlying rating to A from A-minus on Early, Texas' series 2010 general obligation refunding bonds.

The outlook is stable.

"The raised rating reflects our view of the city's continued tax base growth coupled with the maintenance of very strong reserves," said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Todd Helman. "Further supporting the rating is our view of the city's two consecutive years of general fund surpluses," Helman added.

Early, with a population of about 2,760, is located in Brown County, about 70 miles southeast of Abilene and just northeast of Brownwood, where the majority of city's residents work.
