Local governments in Wyandotte County, Kan., last week shared more than $843,000 from the first monthly distribution of revenues from a casino that opened in early February.
The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City received $338,000 from the Hollywood Casino. Bonner Springs received $71,000 with $45,000 allocated to Edwardsville.
The state receives 22% of the net gambling revenues from the casino, the third state-operated gambling venue built since the Kansas Legislature approved gambling in 2007.
The county will receive 1.5% of the revenue and Kansas City receives 0.75%, with the two cities sharing the other 1.5%.
A direct contribution of 2% of total casino revenues will be allocated by the county to schools, charitable organizations and parks as specified by a development agreement.
The combination city-county government expects to receive $3.7 million in casino revenues in 2012.
At the current level, Bonner Springs’s share would total $779,000 in 2012 and Edwardsville would receive $493,000
