Law Firm Taps Ex-Mayor

The Indianapolis office of Faegre Baker Daniels LLP announced last week that the firm has hired the former mayor of Evansville as counsel.

Jonathon Weinzapfel will advise nonprofits and government clients on the development of public-private partnerships and economic development projects, among other things, the firm said in a release.

Weinzapfel was mayor of Evansville from 2004 to 2011. He will work remotely from the city.

Under his leadership, the city issued $115 million of bonds to finance construction of a downtown arena meant to revitalize the city, which is considered a main hub of southwest Indiana and northern Kentucky.

Before serving as Evansville mayor, Weinzapfel served three terms in the Indiana House of Representatives, the firm said.

"We are thrilled to bring Jonathan onto the Faegre Baker Daniels team," Chip Garver, leader of the firm's government team in Indiana, said in a statement. "His ability to navigate complex governmental issues will serve clients not only here in Indiana, but across state lines and in Washington, D.C., as well."
