Deputy Comptroller Picked

New York Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli has appointed Robert Ward as deputy comptroller of budget and policy analysis.

Ward will be responsible for analyzing the state budget and finances, overseeing debt issuance for the state and other public entities, as well as crafting policy for DiNapoli’s office. He will receive a salary of $150,000.

Most recently, Ward was the deputy director and director of fiscal studies for the Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government at the University at Albany.

He will start his new position April 12.

Ward has studied and written about New York government for more than 25 years.

In addition to his previous work in journalism, on the staff of the Assembly Ways and Means Committee, and at the Public Policy Institute of New York State, Ward is the author of the book “New York State Government” and an expert on state fiscal policy.

A graduate of Syracuse University, Ward has been a member of the Governor’s Commission on Tax Reform, a technical advisor for the Governor’s Commission on Property Tax Relief and a board member of the State Academy for Public Administration.
