Ballard Spahr Taps Longtime Litigator

The law firm Ballard Spahr LLP hired Jeffrey Cohen, a veteran litigator and authority on municipal debt restructuring, as a partner in its Denver office to augment its litigation capabilities in the Western region.

Cohen will work in Ballard Spahr’s litigation department, focusing on commercial litigation, bankruptcy, reorganization and municipal finance. He’ll also be involved with several groups within the firm: commercial litigation and bankruptcy, reorganization and capital recovery groups, and municipal recovery initiative.

Cohen, formerly a partner at Patton Boggs LLP in Denver, brings to Ballard more than 30 years of experience in the Denver legal community. He has chaired more than 150 state and federal jury and non-jury trials to verdict.

Cohen has experience briefing and arguing appeals and conducting all aspects of discovery and pre-trial motion practice. He has also served as lead counsel for the planning and execution of numerous business restructuring cases, including the restructuring of troubled municipal bond issues. And he has been lead creditor and debtor counsel for several multimillion-dollar bankruptcies.

For its part, Ballard Spahr has than 500 lawyers in 13 offices in the U.S. It services in litigation, business and finance, real estate, intellectual property, and public finance.
