Consumer Sentiment Index Rises Slightly in February

The University of Michigan’s final February consumer sentiment index reading was 75.3, compared to the preliminary February 72.5 and the final January 75.0 reading, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 70.3, up from 68.0 earlier in the month, and 69.1 in January. The current conditions index was 83.0, up from 79.6 earlier in the month and 84.2 in January.

Economists predicted a 72.8 reading for the main index, 80.3 for current conditions and 68.5 for expectations.
