Consumer Sentiment Index Slides to 72.5 in February

The University of Michigan’s final January consumer sentiment index reading was 72.5, compared to the final January 75.0 and the preliminary January 74.0 reading, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 68.0, compared to 69.1 in January. while the current conditions index was 79.6, compared to 84.2 in January.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 74.0 reading for the main index, an 84.2 reading for current conditions, and a 69.1 reading for expectations.
