Initial Jobless Claims Drop 23,000 to 393,000 in Week Ended Nov. 24

Initial unemployment claims fell 23,000 to 393,000 in the week ended November 24, the Labor Department reported Thursday.

Continuing claims slid 70,000 to 3.287 million in the week ended Nov. 17 from 3.357 million in the prior week.

The four-week average rose 7,500 to 405,250 in the week ended Nov. 24.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters expected 390,000 initial claims and 3.320 million continuing claims.
