Lake County Pushes Court Bonds

Lake County, Ill., approved $90 million in borrowing to help finance its $119 million capital plan for judicial facilities, which includes construction of a new criminal courts tower.

The borrowing will supplement about $34 million in cash already set aside for the projects.

The court tower alone carries an $81 million price tag. Construction is expected to begin next year. The expansion is needed to “address facility constraints and increased demands on the court system over the next several decades,” according to the county’s website.
