Baum Hires David Adams for Southeast Region

BRADENTON, Fla. - George K. Baum & Co. has hired David Adams as a senior vice president to open the firm’s public finance office in Charlotte, N.C.

Adams, who has 23 years of experience in the municipal industry, will focus on broadening opportunities throughout the Southeast region, according to chairman and chief executive officer Jonathan E. Baum.

“We’re excited to add a highly qualified professional to our public finance team,” Baum said. “David is a perfect fit to lead our growing public finance practice in the Southeast and will be a tremendous asset to the firm.”

Adams was formerly a senior vice president at BB&T Capital Markets and manager of its Southeast public finance practice.

His experience across the Southeast in governmental and nonprofit banking as well as education finance will be integrated into Baum’s existing practices “resulting in immediate service opportunities for colleges and universities in the Southeast,” officials said.

Adams higher education clients have included Davidson College, the University of South Florida, the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Mississippi College, North Carolina State University, High Point University, and the University of Tampa.

He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and his master’s of business administration from the Babcock School at Wake Forest University.

Based in Kansas City, Mo., George K. Baum & Company is one of the nation’s oldest privately held investment banks.
