Tomblin Wins Full Term

West Virginia voters last week kept Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, a Democrat, in office to serve a full four-year term. Tomblin defeated Bill Maloney with 51% of the vote.

Tomblin won a special election in October 2011 to fill the remaining term of former Gov. Joe Manchin, who was elected to the U.S. Senate.

Voters also kept Democrats in control of the state Legislature last week.

Of the 100 seats in the House, 54 are held by Democrats and 46 by the GOP. Of the 34 Senate seats, 25 are held by Democrats and Republicans hold the other 9.
