Iowa Voters OK Bonds for Nature

Voters in Polk County, Iowa last week authorized $50 million of borrowing to finance environmental improvements.

More than 60% of voters – the required threshold for passage – signed off on “Polk County’s Water and Land Legacy Bond” on last week’s ballot.

The plan calls for spending $18 million for land work, $15 million for parks, $10 million for water works, and $7 million for trail improvements.
