U. of Mich. Preliminary Nov. Index at 84.9 vs. 82.6 in Oct.

The University of Michigan's preliminary November consumer sentiment index reading was 84.9, compared to the final October 82.6, the preliminary October 83.1, and the final September 78.3, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 80.8, compared to 79.0 in October, 79.5 earlier in October, and 73.5 in September.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted an 83.0 reading for the main index, 88.8 for current conditions and 79.6 for expectations.

The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.8%, compared to 2.7% in October, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 3.0%, compared to 3.1% in October.

The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
