Moody's Warns of U.S. Downgrade If Budget Negotiations Fail

The creditworthiness of the U.S. federal government hinges on the outcome of budget negotiations in 2013 between the newly re-elected Barack Obama and the still divided Congress, a new Moody's report warned.

Moody's has it right. And will likely join S&P in the AA/Aa category. Perhaps this downgrade and the one also likely from Fitch will provide the needed stick for this spend thrift administration to seriously negotiate real entitlement reforms so essential to getting the fiscal house in order.
