Treasury Moves Up 4-Week Auction

The Treasury Department announced Monday it is moving the 4-week bill auction to Monday from Tuesday due to the expected impact of Hurricane Sandy. The bill auction will close at 10:30 a.m. ET.

However, "Treasury's 13- and 26-week bill auctions will close at the regularly scheduled time of 11:30 a.m. today," the statement said.

The Federal government announced Sunday that offices in Washington would be closed Monday due to the monster storm now lashing the East Coast, but it is extremely rare to alter a scheduled debt auction.

Despite the Federal government closure, the Commerce Department will release September personal income data as scheduled at 8:30 a.m. ET, via its web site, and Treasury was set to release quarterly borrowing requirements on schedule Monday.

Most financial markets are closed, and the fixed income market is due to close at noon ET.
