SIFMA Recommends Close of Muni, Other Fixed Income Markets for Tuesday

WASHINGTON — The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association is recommending a full market close for Tuesday, effecting municipal bonds and all other fixed-income securities in the U.S., due to Hurricane Sandy.

But the group said primary dealers will need to determine if they should provide staffing on funding desks to accommodate any potential open-market operations by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
