Fidelity's Kim Edwards Joins Piper Jaffray

DALLAS – Kim Edwards, former Fidelity Investments vice president for municipal finance, has joined Piper Jaffray as senior vice president for the public finance office in Austin.

Edwards, who has more than 25 years experience in public finance, was executive director of the Texas Public Finance Authority before joining Fidelity. The TPFA is one of the top bond issuers for Texas, handling most of the state’s general obligation debt. During Edwards’ tenure, the agency had more than $5 billion of bonds issued or outstanding.

“We are very pleased to have Kim join Piper Jaffray to continue the expansion of our Texas public finance business,” said Frank Fairman, head of public finance for the firm.  “Kim’s experience with the Texas market will enable us to continue to grow our market presence.”

Headquartered in Minneapolis, Piper Jaffray has 32 municipal offices in the United States. For the first six months of 2012, Piper Jaffray ranked fourth in number of senior managed issues and ninth in par value, completing 347 negotiated and competitive municipal underwritings for over $6.72 billion of par amount, according to data from Thomson Reuters.

Edwards, who earned graduate degrees at the University of Texas and her undergraduate at Rice University, was previously assistant executive director for the Municipal Advisory Council of Texas. There she managed a team of municipal credit analysts and the implementation of SEC Rule 15 c 2-12.  She has also worked for the Government Finance Officers Association and Price Waterhouse in Washington, D.C.  Edwards is vice president of the newly formed Texas chapter of the Women in Public Finance.
