Women in Public Finance Adds Texas Chapter

DALLAS – The Texas chapter of Women in Public Finance has joined the growing non-profit organization with its first meeting in Austin.

Founded earlier this year and hosting its inaugural meeting Sept. 20, the Texas chapter is designed to promote the role of women in the public finance arena while providing education and other services.

Cheryl Rosenberg, a partner in the Public Law Practice of Haynes and Boone in Houston, is the Texas chapter’s first president. Other officers include vice president Kim Edwards
of Fidelity Capital Markets, secretary Stephanie Henning of RBC Capital Markets, and treasurer Debi Jones of Raymond James/Morgan Keegan.

As underwriters’ and bond counsel, Rosenberg’s clients include the City of Houston, Harris County, the Port of Houston Authority and the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County.

Founded in 1997, Women in Public Finance started out with a focus on the mid-west region and has expanded over the years. In 2010, Women in Public Finance amended its bylaws to recognize regional chapters and affiliates.

Members and participants include state and local government issuers, not-for-profit issuers, investment bankers, attorneys, financial advisors, rating agency analysts, bond insurers, and trust officers among others. The organization is governed by an 18-member board.

The national organization is holding its 16th annual conference Wednesday in Chicago.
