Arizona Tribal Casinos Pay Out

Tribal casinos in Arizona made a $25.1 million payment to the state in the second quarter of 2012, the Department of Gaming said last week, up 2.4% from $24.3 million in the first quarter.

Department director Mark Brnovich said it was the eighth consecutive quarterly increase in revenue from the 22 tribal casinos.

“As the nation continues to deal with a struggling and uncertain economy, an eighth consecutive increase in quarterly tribal gaming contributions is evidence that we are on the right track in Arizona,” Brnovich said. “In addition to providing strong consumer confidence feedback, this increase in revenue will benefit critical programs throughout the state.”

The quarterly payment will provide $12.5 million for education, $6.2 million for the emergency medical services fund, and $1.8 million each to the state wildlife conservation program and tourism efforts. The casinos pay 1% to 8% of their gross revenue to the state.
