Marshall Named NAST Prez

Nevada Treasurer Kate Marshall has been elected the 2012 president of the National Association of State Treasurers.

“I am honored and humbled by my election as president by my fellow state treasurers,” Marshall said.

Headquartered in Lexington, Ky., NAST works to influence public policy at both the state and federal levels.

It also develops and promotes standards of excellence regarding ethical conduct, policy guidelines and accountability for its members.

The NAST office of federal relations in Washington, D.C., provides a variety of resources for state treasurers to communicate their concerns on pending legislation and regulatory actions by federal agencies.

“As president, my focus will be on increasing NAST’s national visibility on fiscal issues relating to the states, working in a nonpartisan manner with my fellow treasurers to produce the best results possible for our constituents, and developing an efficient and effective business model within the NAST structure,” Marshall said.

As president of NAST, Marshall’s expenses related to travel to national meetings of the organization are reimbursed at 100% by the organization.
