Jobless Claims Rise 6,000 To 386,000 in June 9 Week

WASHINGTON — Seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims rose 6,000 to 386,000 for the week ending June 9, while continuing claims fell to 3.278 million for the previous week, the Labor Department reported Thursday.

Claims for the week ended June 2 were revised to 380,000 from the originally reported 377,000.

The 3.278 million of continuing claims for the week ending June 2 followed a revised level of 3.311 million for the previous week, first reported as 3.293 million.

Economists predicted 375,000 initial claims and the 3.270 million continuing claims.
