Harris Tapped for SFMTA

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency announced the appointment Wednesday of Vince Harris as director of capital programs and construction.

The agency oversees all surface transportation in San Francisco, notably the Municipal Railway light-rail and bus service.

Harris previously was executive director of the Stanislaus Council of Governments in Modesto, Calif., and executive director of the Alameda County Transportation Authority.

Harris will be responsible for the San Francisco MTA’s $3 billion capital improvement program, including new light-rail extensions, facility upgrades and enhancements, and system overhead wire and rail replacement projects.

“He understands the importance of comprehensive transportation capital planning and will be a great asset to the agency and the people of San Francisco,” Edward D. Reiskin, the agency’s director of transportation, said in a statement.
