P3 Panel Gets New Boss

Brandon Beach of Alpharetta has been named chairman of the Georgia Transportation Board’s public-private partnership committee, which oversees P3 projects for the state.

Beach, the president and chief executive officer of the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce, was selected by board chairman Rudy Bowen. He replaces David Doss of Rome, whose term had ended.

A member of the Transportation Board since 2008, Beach has been an active P3 panel member and previously was chair of the board’s legislative committee.

“I am convinced P3s will be the linchpin for Georgia, and in particular metropolitan Atlanta, to implement the extraordinarily expensive types of monumental, game-changing transportation infrastructure improvements we need,” Beach said. “I am fortunate to benefit from the excellent work already performed by David [Doss] and the department staff, and look forward to building on that progress.”

The 13-member State Transportation Board determines policies and provides general governance over the Georgia Department of Transportation. Each board member represents one of the state’s congressional districts and is elected by their respective senators and representatives.

Georgia has an active P3 program with a number of major plans under way, including the Atlanta Multi-Modal Passenger Terminal project.

In January, GDOT named three consortiums seeking to bid on the multi-modal project, which will be a hub for existing and future transportation networks serving the region. A master developer is expected to be selected by mid-summer.
