Grigsby Taps Vets to Boost Senior Manager Role

CHICAGO — San Francisco-based Grigsby & Associates Inc. last year added to its investment banking team in Chicago, New York City, and San Francisco and its sales and trading desk group in New York as it seeks to bolster its ability to serve as a senior manager.

The firm hired veterans Carl Scotti and Robert Marron in December as vice presidents in sales and trading in the firm’s New York office.

Both previously held positions with Securevest Financial Group. Scotti also has worked at JPMorgan; Marron was at CIBC World Markets.

Last year the firm added Susan Homeier to its Chicago municipal banking staff as a managing director. Homeier previously worked for Piper Jaffray & Co. and has 18 years of experience in the public finance field, working with issuers throughout the Midwest.

In New York, Hantz Serrao came aboard as a vice president. He previously worked for Morgan Stanley, Citi and JPMorgan on asset-backed transactions. Hector Reyes-Erazo joined the San Francisco office as a managing director.

He has worked in public finance for nearly two decades, holding positions in banking and sales at Stone & Youngberg, First Southwest, Estrada Hinojosa, and UBS. He also worked for the New York City Economic Development Corp.

“They are all valued by their clients for insight, technical expertise and professionalism,” firm founder Calvin Grigsby said of the hires, noting that Peter Murphy also was promoted to lead sales and trading efforts in New York.

The firm continues to look for “strategic” additions in regional markets it believes are underserved, according to Alvin Boutte Jr., a managing director and partner. He said the aim is to promote Grigsby as a capable senior manager.

“We have been adding depth to our desk and increasing order flow on every deal we are in,” Boutte said.

Grigsby also has offices in Atlanta, Birmingham, Los Angeles, Miami, and Shreveport. It has a public finance banking staff of eight and a sales and trading team of six, and ranked 97th nationally last year as a senior manager, up from 98th in 2009, and 118th in 2008, according to ThomsonReuters. Grigsby ranked 32nd last year in the Far West.
