Announced layoff intentions fell to 41,528 in March from 50,702 in February, job placement firm Challenger, Gray, and Christmas Inc. said Wednesday.
March 2010 saw 67,611 job cuts.
In March, the government sector reported 19,099 job reductions, after 16,380 in February. The government cut the work force by 50,604 in March 2010.
Moody's Ratings on Monday revised Illinois' outlook to positive from stable and affirmed the state's A3 issuer rating and the A3 rating on its GO debt.
