California’s Lockyer Taps Marxen As Executive Director of CIDFAC

ALAMEDA, Calif. — California Treasurer Bill Lockyer has appointed Eileen Marxen to serve as executive director of the California Industrial Development Financing Advisory Commission.

CIDFAC distributes a portion of California’s private-activity bond allocation to businesses seeking authority to issue tax-exempt industrial development bonds.

The commission is staffed by the state treasurer’s office, where Marxen has worked for 15 years in a variety of capacities.

“CIDFAC plays an important role in generating jobs and economic growth in California, and there is no higher priority right now than job creation,” Lockyer said in a statement.

Marxen, 51, most recently served as speech writer and policy adviser for Lockyer.

She was CIDFAC’s deputy executive director from 2004 to 2009, and before that worked as a manager at the California Debt and Investment Advisory Commission.

She succeeds Tom Dresslar as executive director. Though he served at CIDFAC, his primary duties were as communications director for the treasurer.

Marxen will be able to devote her full efforts to the commission, said treasurer’s office spokesman Joe DeAnda.

Since 2007, CIDFAC has provided more than $282 million in financing to more than 33 projects and takes credit for the creation of 2,285 jobs.
