Consumer Sentiment Index Slides to 68.2

The University of Michigan’s preliminary March consumer-sentiment index reading was 68.2, a decrease from the final February 77.5 reading, according to market sources.

Economists forecast a 76.5 reading.

The expectations index was 58.3, down from 71.6 in February.

The current conditions index was 83.6, down from 86.9 in February.
