Revenue Boost Ahead

Missouri budget revenues are expected to grow by 3.9% to $7.6 billion in fiscal 2013, officials said last week.

The consensus figure was arrived at by various state officials and outside advisors. Gov. Jay Nixon’s administration will use the figure in crafting a budget for fiscal 2013, which begins July 1.

Budget director Linda Luebbering said Missouri expects to collect $285 million more next year.

Despite the predicted growth, officials are still grappling with the loss of one-time federal aid and likely will still have to cut spending in the next fiscal year.
