Consumer Sentiment Continues to Grow

The University of Michigan’s final December consumer sentiment index reading was 69.9, up from the preliminary December 67.7 and the final November 64.1, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 63.6, compared to 61.1 earlier in December, and 55.4 in November. The current conditions index was 79.6, down from 77.9 earlier in December and 77.6 in November.

Economists had predicted a 68.0 reading for the main index, 78.0 for current conditions, and 61.1 for expectations.
