Nassau OTB Appeals

Nassau Off-Track Betting Corp. has filed an appeal in its prolonged legal fight with New York harness tracks, Newsday reported, quoting OTB officials.

The tussle involves lawsuits filed by harness tracks against Nassau and other regional OTBs for annual payments of simulcasting proceeds since 2004, according to the newspaper.

Newsday reported that the Nassau OTB is liable for $4.5 million. It faced an Oct. 31 deadline to pay $647,000, which the state Racing and Wagering Board says the corporation owes for 2010. The Nassau OTB has appealed that amount.
