Xanadu Makeover Gets OK

The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority has approved proposals for the American Dream-Meadowlands project, formerly known as Xanadu.

American Dream, now operated by Triple Five amended its master plan to allow for an indoor water park at the mall it is developing adjacent to the new MetLife Stadium.

Triple Five is also the owner of the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn.

The authority’s approval permits Triple Five to apply to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for approval to build on five wetlands.

Triple Five also intends to change the much-criticized, multi-colored exterior that is visible from the New Jersey Turnpike.

Triple Five has applied to the New Jersey Economic Development Authority for discounts on its tax liabilities worth a total of $350 million over a 10- to 20-year span, according to the Associated Press.
