Law Firms Finish Merger

Indianapolis-based law firm Baker & Daniels LLP and Minnesota-based Faegre & Benson LLP completed their merger last week and announced that the combined firm will become known as Faegre Baker Daniels starting next January.

Baker & Daniels is one of Indianapolis’ largest firms, with 221 attorneys working in the city. The firm overall has 320 attorneys in seven offices, including Chicago and Washington, D.C.

Faegre & Benson employs 450 attorneys. No layoffs are expected as part of the merger, the firm said. Andrew Humphrey, Feagre’s managing partner, will keep the post at the new firm. Tom Froehle, Baker & Daniels’ managing partner, a public finance attorney, will serve as chief operating partner.

“We believe this more visible platform will help attract and retain the highest caliber talent,” Froehle said in a statement. “Ultimately, this will help us provide better value to our clients.”

Faegre Baker Daniels will maintain 13 offices in the U.S.
