Sept. Production Up 0.2%; Capacity Use at 77.4%

WASHINGTON — Industrial production increased 0.2% in September after a revised unchanged level in August, the Federal Reserve reported Monday.

The September increase was right on target with the gain projected by economists polled by Thomson Reuters.

For the third quarter as a whole, industrial production rose at an annual rate of 5.1%, the Fed reported.

Capacity utilization rose slightly to 77.4%, after rising to a revised 77.3% in August.

The September increase was below the 77.5% projected by economists.
