A $50 million housing issue that voters approved in 2006 has led to the development of more than 1,200 homes in Rhode Island, an advocacy group said.
HousingWorks RI, a coalition of organizations that promote affordable homes, said that 80% of the 1,255 homes developed under the Building Homes Rhode Island program are rentals.
Despite the success of the program, HousingWorks RI, in its 2011 Fact Book, said there is a persistent need for long-term affordable housing in the state.
