Collections? Not So Hot

Pennsylvania collected $2.3 billion in general fund revenue in September, which was $151.8 million, or 6.1%, less than expected, Secretary of Revenue Daniel Meuser reported.

Fiscal year-to-date general fund collections total $5.8 billion, which is $215 million, or 3.5%, below estimate.

Sales tax receipts totaled $714.9 million for September, $14.9 million below the estimate, Meuser’s office said in a statement. Year-to-date sales tax collections total $2.2 billion, which is $30.6 billion, or 1.4%, less than anticipated.

Fitch Ratings assigns Pennsylvania its AA-plus general obligation rating. Moody’s Investors Service rates the credit Aa1 and Standard & Poor’s rates it AA.
