The City Council in financially strapped Harrisburg is considering a series of bills to increase parking revenue.
Mayor Linda Thompson submitted four bills to the council last week that would increase rates, add meters outside of downtown and impose a tax on parking lot owners.
“We can make the city some money, [although] it’s not like it’s millions of dollars,” according to Susan Brown-Wilson, chairwoman of the council’s committee.
The changes, if the full council passes them, could provide up to an extra $300,000 annually for Harrisburg.
The General Assembly is considering a bill that would place Pennsylvania’s capital city under receivership.
