Gov. Dannel Malloy has appointed four people to the nascent Connecticut Airport Authority and named Mary Ellen Jones of Glastonbury as the board’s chairwoman.
The new authority, which can issue bonds, oversees Connecticut’s six state-owned airports, including the flagship Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks.
Jones is president of the Engine Alliance, a 50-50 joint venture between Pratt & Whitney and General Electric Co. that manufactures the GP7000 engine for the Airbus A380. Previously, Jones headed Pratt & Whitney’s commercial engines and global services marketing organization, and worked for three years in Toulouse, France, directing P&W’s operations at Airbus headquarters.
Others joining the authority are Brett Browchuk of Avon, senior president for service operations at Cigna Healthcare; Charles Gray of Stamford, senior regional manager for hosted solutions at NCR Corp.; and Michael Long of Simsbury, chairman of the Bradley International Airport Commission and retired president of Ensign-Bickford Industries Inc.
Bradley airport is 12 miles north of the capital city of Hartford. About $169 million of outstanding debt is tied to the airport, according to the Connecticut Treasury Department.
