Local governments will soon be able to post their budgets online as part of Indiana’s effort to boost transparency and public access to information.
The state Department of Local Government Finance and Indiana University’s Indiana Business Research Center said last week they have launched the computer system for local units. The budgets can be cross-referenced against employment rates, income, and population, according to local reports. Gov. Mitch Daniels sponsored the initiative.
