Seattle Cuts Another $10M

Seattle will slash $10 million from its general fund budget to close budget gaps through the end of the year.

In an effort to close the gap, the city will eliminate 63 positions in various departments, according to the Seattle Times.

The city had expected to cut up to $16 million from its budget, but projected cuts in funding from the state and federal government came in less than expected, the newspaper said.

The reductions are on top of $67 million made last year to the $897 million 2011 budget, including 300 jobs, according to the paper.
