Revenues Take a Hit

Louisiana's revenues for the first five months of fiscal 2011 total $2.87 billion, down $395 million from the same period of fiscal 2010.

Revenues in the first five months of fiscal 2010 totaled $3.26 billion, which was a drop of $236 million, or 7%, from the first five months of fiscal 2009.

Treasurer John Kennedy said last week that total revenues in November were down 12% from November 2009, and October revenues were down 6% compared to last year.

General sales tax receipts are up slightly in fiscal 2011, totaling $1.08 billion. Receipts increased 2% from the $1.06 billion collected over the same period of fiscal 2010.

Individual income tax cash receipts are down 6% from the same period of fiscal 2010, totaling $1.05 billion. Individual income tax cash receipts this time last year were $1.12 billion, which was $3 million more than the same period of fiscal 2009.

Gasoline and special fuels tax cash receipts in fiscal 2011 total $258 million, an increase of $10 million from fiscal 2010.
