April Vote for $83.5M

The Racine Unified School District will ask voters on the April ballot to approve $83.5 million of general obligation borrowing.

The southern Wisconsin district would use the proceeds to finance land acquisition; construction and equipping of new schools to replace several existing elementary schools; and improvements to other existing schools.

It also will ask voters to exceed state revenue caps in the coming years to cover various costs and improve its fund balance. The board approved placing the questions on the April 5 ballot at a meeting last week.
