Peck Shaffer Attorney Tapped to Serve on Kentucky District Panel

BRADENTON, Fla. — Lewis Diaz, a bond attorney with Peck, Shaffer & Williams LLP, has been appointed to a three-year term on the finance and administration committee of the Northern Kentucky Area Development District.

As a member of Peck Shaffer’s affordable housing practice group, Diaz focuses on multi- and single-family housing finance.

Diaz has been a member of the NKADD’s board of directors since September 2007, said Lisa Cooper, the district’s coordinator of development and public administration.

On the finance and administration committee, Diaz will oversee the operations of the NKADD, she said.

“With Lewis Diaz’ legal background, expertise in financial matters, and community-mindedness, he will be an asset as a member of the finance and administration committee,” Cooper said.

“We look forward to working with him in this capacity, and appreciate his ongoing commitment and willingness to serve our agency and the northern Kentucky community,” he added.

The NKADD is one of the 15 area development districts created by the Kentucky Legislature 39 years ago to promote sustainable economic growth. It is similar to regional councils in other states, Cooper said.

The district offers cities, counties and special districts assistance through a broad array of programs, including financing though a pool bond program. The district has a number of programs for seniors and provides small-business lending.

The finance and administration committee has minimal involvement in the pool bond program, which is administered by the Kentucky Council Area Development District’s central office in Frankfort, Cooper said.

Before joining Peck Shaffer, Diaz was with the Kentucky Housing Corp., where he served in various capacities over six years, including chief counsel. He is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers.

Peck Shaffer, a firm that specializes in public finance law, has offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio, Covington, Ky., and Denver.
