Matosantos Gets Pre-Promotion

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger Tuesday promoted Cynthia Bryant to serve as director of the Department of Finance for the remaining weeks of his term.

Finance director Ana Matosantos resigned from the Schwarzenegger administration Tuesday, after Democratic governor-elect Jerry Brown announced that he plans to appoint her as his finance chief when he takes office Jan. 3.

Bryant, 51, has been the chief deputy director of finance since January, and has served in a variety of roles in the Republican Schwarzenegger administration since he took office in 2003.

“Cynthia has long been an irreplaceable member of my staff, and I know she is the best person to lead my finance department through the remainder of my administration,” Schwarzenegger said in a statement.

“I am greatly appreciative of all the hard work Ana has put into my administration, and I will miss her vast supply of knowledge and expertise,” he said. “I wish her the best of luck in her next endeavor.”
