Rice Added to CHEFA Board

State Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg Tuesday announced the appointment of Ann Rice to the California Health Facilities Financing Authority board.

Rice, a Sacramento Democrat, is the chief executive of the University of California Davis Medical Center.

The authority makes loans — often as a conduit bond issuer — to nonprofits that are building, upgrading, or expanding hospitals or other health care facilities.

The Senate Rules Committee, controlled by Steinberg, appoints two of the nine members of the CHFFA board. Rice’s term expires March 31, 2012.
