Loop Capital Markets Adds James Johnson as General Counsel

CHICAGO — Chicago-based Loop Capital Markets LLC has hired James C. Johnson as its general counsel.

Johnson most recently was a vice president and assistant general counsel in the commercial airplanes group at Boeing Co., where he was responsible for all legal functions of its commercial airplane business. He previously was a vice president, corporate secretary, and assistant general counsel at Northrop Grumman Corp., and a special counsel to the Securities and Exchange Commission.

"I look forward to working closely with James as we continue to grow our firm and hire additional professionals with the right talent, experience, and expertise."

The 13-year-old firm employs nearly 200 professionals in 20 offices across the country, including more than 40 public finance bankers.

Loop ranks 15th so far this year among senior managers nationally, running the books on nearly $4.6 billion of debt in 46 transactions. It finished sixth in 2009, up from 20th place in 2008, according to Thomson Reuters. Loop is sixth so far this year among Illinois senior managers, running the books on $1.9 billion of debt in 11 deals. It finished 2008 and 2009 as sixth among senior managers in its home state.
