From Analyst to Controller

Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard last week announced that longtime financial analyst Jeff Spalding would take over as the city’s new controller.

Outgoing controller David Reynolds left last month to take a job as a senior fiscal analyst for the Indiana Republican majority caucus. He had served as controller since Ballard took office in January 2008.

Spalding has worked as a financial analyst and administrator in the public and private sectors for more than 25 years, the mayor’s office said in a press release.

He comes to the job from Indiana Department of Transportation where he served as director of multimodal planning and policy. He worked as a financial administrator at the Indiana Commission for Higher Education and as a fiscal analyst for the Indiana House, where he was also part of the State Revenue Forecast Technical Committee. He will start Nov. 22.
