CEO Confidence Slumps In 3Q: Conference Board

Confidence in the economy among chief executives fell to a level of 50 in the third quarter of 2010 from 62 in the preceding April-June period, according to the Conference Board’s measure of CEO confidence.

The measure is based on quarterly surveys of more than 100 chief executives of U.S. industries. Readings above 50 reflect more positive than negative responses.

“CEO confidence has cooled considerably in the second half of 2010, as has the U.S. economy,” said the board’s Lynn Franco. “Expectations are that this slow pace of [growth] will continue into early 2011.”
