Feds File Against Langford

Federal prosecutors filed a brief on Monday urging the U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta to uphold former Jefferson County Commission president Larry Langford’s conviction.

Langford has been in prison the last five months, serving 15 years for his conviction on 60 federal pay-to-play charges mostly related to Jefferson County’s sewer warrants. He is appealing.

Prosecutors said Langford took $240,000 in cash and goods from Montgomery bond dealer Bill Blount in return for steering business to Blount’s firm.

In a 73-page brief filed Monday, prosecutors rebutted all the arguments made by Langford’s attorney and said his conviction should be upheld.
