Consumer Sentiment Down From Early Read

The University of Michigan’s final August consumer sentiment index reading was revised downward to 68.9 from a preliminary 69.6 and a final July mark of 67.8, according to market sources.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 69.6 August reading.

The expectations index was 62.9 compared to 64.1 earlier in the month and 62.3 in July. The current conditions index was 78.3 compared to 78.3 earlier in the month, and 76.5 in July. Economists had predicted a 78.3 reading for current conditions and 64.1 for expectations.
